Graduate Planner

STATUS: PERMANENT ROLE

BASED: ST. HELENS

To provide support to the development team at the front-end of energy generation projects. The Planning Team Member will be working with the Planning Team and wider Development Team members to:

– Vet and assess potential sites alongside our grid, design, and land teams.

– Identify viable project sites with external parties from local council plans and strategies.

– Organise and coordinate with various external bodies (i.e., planners, consultants, local councils).

– Contribute to the delivery of sites from acceptance to ‘shovel-ready’.

– Preparation of planning reports and other written material to support the delivery of projects.

– Attendance and contribution at meetings with project teams, planning authorities, and stakeholders.

Skills / Qualifications

Degree qualified (or equivalent). Strong analytical skills. Research skills. Excellent time management. Organisational ability. Solutions focus and process driven. Working towards RTPI (or equivalent). Work experience in a similar role would be beneficial.

Required Knowledge

Knowledge of planning, development, construction, land, energy, renewables, surveying, power or project management would be beneficial, but not essential. An interest in these areas would also be beneficial.

Person Specification

The role requires strong interpersonal and communication skills as well as the ability to build strong relationships with external parties. The ability to understand and follow a process from initial instruction through to delivery is essential. The role requires a good level of IT knowledge and analytical skill as well as the ability to think pro-actively. Full and clean driving licence is required.

Connections Team Member

STATUS: PERMANENT ROLE

BASED: ST. HELENS

To provide support to the Connections Manager and wider team at the front-end of energy generation projects. The Connections team member will be working with the Connections Manager to:

–   Identify viable project sites with DNO’s

–   Vet & assess potential grid connections and technologies

–   Organise and co-ordinate with various external bodies including ICP’s

–   Deliver shortlisted potential sites for progression to Connections Manager / Exploration Team

–   Liaise with internal team relating to costings and viability

Skills / Qualifications

Degree qualified or equivalent vocational experience. Strong analytical skills. Ability to converse and negotiate to suit audience. Good attention to detail. Research skills. Excellent time management. Organisational ability. Process driven.

Required Knowledge

Knowledge of electrical systems, power projects, single line diagrams, DNO networks or project management would be beneficial, but not essential. An interest in these areas and renewable technologies would also be beneficial.

Development Team Manager

STATUS: PERMANENT ROLE

BASED: ST. HELENS

To provide support to the development team at the front-end of energy generation projects. The Development team member will be working with the wider development team to:

–   Identify viable project sites with external parties

–   Vet & assess potential sites

–   Organise and co-ordinate with various external bodies

–   Deliver shortlisted potential sites for progression to planning and construction

–   Liaise with internal team relating to contracts / costings

Skills / Qualifications

Degree qualified or equivalent vocational experience. Strong analytical skills. Research skills. Excellent time management. Organisational ability. Process driven.

Required Knowledge

Knowledge of construction, land, energy, renewables, surveying, power or project management would be beneficial, but not essential. An interest in these areas would also be beneficial.

Land Sourcer

STATUS: PERMANENT ROLE

BASED: ST. HELENS

To provide support to the Land Manager and wider team at the front-end of energy generation projects. The Land Sourcer will be working to:

–   Identify viable project sites through leads and landowner engagement

–   Vet & assess potential sites in collaboration with the planning, design and grid teams

–   Organise and co-ordinate meetings via Phone, Teams and Face-to-Face

–   Deliver shortlisted potential sites for progression to Connections Manager / Exploration Team

–   Provide high-level commercial markers for landowners in line with the market

Skills / Qualifications

Degree qualified or equivalent vocational experience. Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to converse and negotiate to suit audience, providing advice and tailored solutions to landowners whilst still ensuring projects can be delivered and commercially viable. Good attention to detail. Research skills. Excellent time management. Organisational ability. Process driven.

Required Knowledge

The ability to build strong relationships with landowners is essential as is the ability to maintain those relationships on behalf of Balance Power throughout the development process. Adaptability and awareness are key to being able to provide the best possible solutions for all stakeholders. Knowledge of land buying, sourcing or lead generation would be beneficial, but not essential. An interest in these areas and renewable technologies would be beneficial.

Design Team Member

STATUS: PERMANENT ROLE

BASED: ST. HELENS

To provide support to the Design Manager and wider team at the front-end of energy generation projects. The Design team member will be working to:

–  Vet & assess potential sites via spatial design work

–  Create & modify high-quality scaled plans, elevations & sections for planning submission

–  Liaise with both internal & external teams to understand project requirements & provide design advice

–  Conduct site visits and surveys as and when required

–  Present working drawings for use in all stages of the project

Skills / Qualifications

Level 2/3 CAD qualified or equivalent vocational experience. Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to converse and negotiate to suit audience, providing design advice and tailored solutions to landowners and land agents whilst still ensuring commercial viability of projects. Maintain accurate records. Creative thinking & problem solving. Good attention to detail. Research skills. Excellent time management. Organisational ability. Process driven.

Required Knowledge

Knowledge of 2D CAD, construction, energy, renewables, surveying, 3D design using Revit would be desirable, but not essential. An interest in these areas would also be beneficial.
